Security arrangements made in city’s markets: Ebad


Karachi—Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has said that adequate security arrangements had been made for shoppers in city’s markets so as to ensure Eid shopping with utmost peace of mind and without any fear.
This he said while talking to media men at Clifton after an extensive visit of City’s markets and shopping malls to inspect security arrangements and enquire from shoppers about their problems.
A statement on Saturday said that Sindh Home minister, Anwar Siyal, Commissioner Karachi, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, and Additional I.G. Karachi, Mushtaq Mehar also accompanied the Governor Sindh. It said that he visited the markets of Tariq Road, Hyderi, Nazimabad, Saddar and Clifton and talked to shoppers and traders and asked about security and other arrangements.
They remarked it was a pleasant surprise to see the Governor among them and appreciated his concern for the security of the masses.
At Hyderi representatives of Bohri community complained that light in their area was off for the last three days. Governor Sindh immediately contacted the K-Electric authorities and the electricity to the locality was restored within half an hour due to his intervention. The people of the area thanked Governor Sindh for resolving their problem without any delay. Governor Sindh while talking with media men said that the purpose of his visit was to see the security arrangements himself at various places and ask the consumers about the same and any other problem being faced by them.
He said that due to the strenuous and untiring efforts of personnel of Law Enforcement Agencies, the law and order situation has improved considerably and the rush of people in markets is the recognition of their achievements in this regard.
To a question regarding Amjad Sabri and Owais Shah incidents, Governor Sindh said that investigations in both the cases are progressing in right direction and we will hear good news in these cases very soon. Responding to a question regarding stagnant water after recent rains in city streets, Governor Sindh said that local bodies had made arrangements to clear rain water but it was seen on roads in few localities which is being investigated. After release of funds for cleaning of big drains, the same would be started soon to ensure uninterrupted flow of rain water through them, he said and added that encroachment and sewage were two important problems of Karachi which should be tackled with a comprehensive plan.
To a question regarding street and other crimes in Ramazan, Governor Sindh said that Home Minister and his team were doing an admirable job to get rid the society from criminals. Dr. Ebad said that development is the priority after improvement in law and order situation. The work on north bound track of Lyari Express Way (LEW) which has been restarted after a gap of eight years, is progressing well while the most vital K-4 project has also been started, he concluded.—APP
