Islamabad—Secretary General of the Senate of Cambodia, Mr. Oum Sarith, will arrive on Monday for a 3-Day official visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Amjed Prevez Malik, Secretary Senate of Pakistan. He is heading a 6 member delegation comprising of officers of different wings of Cambodian Senate.
During this visit, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Cambodian Senate and the Senate of Pakistan would be signed to enhance further mutual cooperation to learn from each other experiences to make the functioning of senate secretariats more effective.
The Senate of Pakistan, as a good will gesture, has extended cooperation to Cambodia for making arrangements for a successful annual session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) besides other important meeting of various committees of APA.
Increasing cooperation and coordination between the two secretariats is the hallmark of bilateral relations between the two sides. Both sides will brief each other on working of the senate, committee systems, legislative aspects and functions of different branches of the secretariats.
The Secretary General of the visiting Senate will also have a meeting with Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik to explore ways and means to further boost linkages between two Houses.
Secretary Amjed Pervez Malik said that the visit of the Secretary General is taking place on important occasion as Cambodia is currently holding the presidency of APA and the Senate of Pakistan has offered cooperation to achieve the goal of creation of an Asian Parliament-the proposal which was floated by Senate of Pakistan and endorsed by member countries during 7th plenary of the APA held in Lahore in 2014.
