Govt paying handsome stipend to nursing students

Dera Ghazi Khan—The Punjab Government is paying a handsome stipend for nursing students to attract more students to seek admission and adopt the noble profession. This was stated by Principal Ghazi Khan Medical College, DG Khan, Prof Dr. Shamim Hassan while inaugurating a school of Nursing and Midwifery at the Teaching Hospital here on Tuesday
The school of nursing was approved by Health Department in 1993 but remained pending due to negligence of local administration of health department concerned. Director Sun Crop Muhammad Hanif Pitafi, GKMC Prof Shah Zaman, Principal School of Nursing Mrs.
Tahira Shahid, Nursing Instructor Mrs. Salma Sikander, Public Information Officer for Health Dr. Farhan Gilani, Dr. Hasnain Nooshi, Deputy Medical Superintendent Teaching Hospital Dr. Khalid Tahseen and many other were present at the ceremony.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prof Dr. Shamim Hassan said that district DG Khan was only district in the province where school of nursing was not established. After recognition of Ghazi Khan Medical College by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, it had become necessary to establish a nursing school here.
