SC orders removal of illegal billboards from city within three days

Karachi—Expressing dissatisfaction over DMCs report about removal of illegal bill boards from city streets and main thoroughfares, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, sitting for its Karachi registry since past many days, ordered that all those responsible for putting such bill boards whether civilian or cantonment boards will be charged with contempt of court for not carrying out its order to remove these signboards within three days.
Presided by Justice Ameer Hani Muslim, the court heard the case today and told the KMC administrator that everyone is shifting the blame to another. “Who should we believe, and now we will charge every one with contempt”. His remarks came in response to KMC administrator’s assertion that area from Kalapul to Share Faisal fell within the Karachi cantonment board limits.
The Court remarked that DMCs has really been conducting themselves badly and were responsible for spreading dirt and filth instead of keeping the city clean. Justice Muslim remarked that the court had pictures of illegal boards still dotting huge areas. None had cared to heed to apex court order, and remove these boards. The KMC administrator should refrain from telling lies.
The court ordered that all such billboards be removed from main thoroughfares within three days.
