SC insists on confiscating Sharjeel’s property

Staff Reporter

Karachi—The Supreme Court, sitting in Karachi for several days, looked angry at the NAB as to why the property and assets of former Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon have not yet been confiscated when he is on absconding list.
Prosecutor NAB replied that Memon was out of the country, and since he had left much early, his name could not be placed Exit Control List (ECL). Dissatisfied by the answer, the honourable court wanted to know as to people facing cases for making money up to Rs20 million were in jail, how could those minting fabulous sums of billions of rupees through illegal means, have remained outside the net.
Why they were not arrested? The court asked and then put of hearing in the case for two weeks.
Memon is wanted in corruption cases but had fled the country, living in Dubai or at some other place
