SC extends deadline for removal of billboards to July 29

Karachi—A larger bench of the Supreme Court , sitting here for several days, extended till July 29 the date for removal of illegal bill boards from city’s streets and thoroughfare.
It did that on request from advocates who thought that the plan to remove such signboard needed coordination between KMC and the Cantonment Boards, governed under military law.
But the court yesterday made it clear that it had pictures and other evidence to prove that its earlier order been either neglected or violated deliberately.
The court had observed that no point shifting blame from person to person to organization to organization.
It will charge all those responsible for it with contempt of court and had issued notice to relevant authorities to clarify their positions before the honourable judges.
