Lahore—Chief Minister Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq along with Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education visited Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology (WIC) on Friday.
He inaugurated angiography procedures at the institute.
Talking to media after inauguration of angiography facility, Kh. Salman Rafiq said that so far Rs 1.24 billion had been spent on this project whereas Rs 500 million would be required for fully functioning of the institute.
He said that Out Patients Department (OPD) was inaugurated last year, whereas emergency and angiography had been started this year.
He revealed that angioplasty and other procedures and complete treatment facilities for the cardiac patients would be started by the end of this year. He said that efforts are being made to start cardiac bypass operation at WIC within a year.
He said that WIC would cater the needs of more than ten million people of Gujranwala Division and its adjacent areas. He said that free treatment facilities would be provided to the poor patients at the institute.
Health Advisor disclosed that a 500 bed teaching hospital is also being constructed at Gujranwala to provide medical treatment facilities to the people of the area.
