Sajjad gets testing time by Sattar in National Snooker

Karachi—Last year’s IBSF World championship finalist, Muhammad Sajjad was given a testing time by Abdul Sattar before cruising into the last eight round of Jubilee Insurance 41st National Ranking Snooker Championship with a nerve shattering 5-4 victory in the last 16 round here on Wednesday.
Second seed Sajjad from Sargodha recovered from 2-3 down and 4-4 deadlock to overpower Abdul Sattar with spectacular and tactical potting in the final frame at Shopping Arcade of Hotel Movenpick.
Sajjad, who with Muhammad Asif won the world team championship title in Ireland two years ago, made a sluggish start losing the first frame. He made instant recovery to make it 2-1. However, Pakistan number one Sattar grabbed the next two frames to secure one frame lead. Sajjad came back strongly under pressure to gain 4-3 advantage. Sattar in last ditch effort par the terms. But Sajjad outplayed his opponent in the 9th frame to wrap up the match.
Youthful Muhammad Bilal smashed the breaks of 69, 68 and 89 in first, 3rd and 4th frame to thrash former National Champion Shahid Aftab 5-0.
Shahram Changezi of Islamabad dropped the second frame before routing young Muhammad Faheem 5-1 with a superb break of 105 in the 4th frame. Top seed and former IBSF World Champion Muhammad Asif lost three frames before overcoming Abu Saim.
Out of eight making the quarters, six belongs to Punjab, Shahram Changezi from Islamabad and Sohail Shahzad from Sindh.
In the quarter final on Thursday, Sajjad will clash Muhammad Bilal, Shahram Changezi faces Sohail Shahzad, Abdul Jawed will be up against Babar Masih and Muhammad Asif (Pjb) meet Asjad Iqbal.
