A war of words broke out between two major political parties of the country as former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon burst out, training guns at interior minister Ch. Nisar but an ever-alert PML-N took him on, listing a long charge-sheet , including corruption change against him and the entire Peoples Party,
Within a week after returning home from long exile, Sharjeel raised his accusing finger at the federal interior minister for targeting PPP, but hiding behind lame excuses when the latter’s own time came to deliver.
He asked as to why Chaudhury Nisar had not included Sharif family’s name in the exit control list over the Panamagate issue? Talking to media at his Defence Society residence here Sunday, he thought that Pakistan “cannot work according to Chaudhry Nisar’s wishes, desires or whims”.
He was furious over what he thought was interior minister’s failure to include finance minister Ishaq Dar’s name on the ECL and on money laundering issues.
He reminded the federal administration that law had to be applied equally on all and sundry, and without discrimination. That is why he has voluntarily surrendered before the courts to get his name cleared of the charges being leveled against him, and would God willing will be freed of the accusations being repeated time and again. The former information minister, who has been accused of massive corruption said he was and still is a member of Pakistan Peoples Party.
Continuing his lambasting of the ruling party, he said Monday’s gathering of the PML(N) in Hyderabad, would be a meeting mainly of patwaris, while that of his own party, it will be full of public participation.
The PML-N, finding the salvos aimed at it, could not sit idle by, and hit back with a venom as its principal defender Talal Chaudhury rebutted the charges, and asked as to how critics of the interior minister, could not yet level a single corruption against him. He pointed out that compared to that, PPP was accused of massive corruption.
