Lahore—Provincial Minister for Zakat & Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran has said the first phase of ‘mustehik zakat to sahib-e-nisab’ rozgar scheme will be launched on February 24. He disclosed this while presiding over a high level meeting with regard to giving a final shape to the arrangements of rozgar scheme, here Saturday.
He said that 63 auto rickshaws would be distributed free of cost among mustehkeen zakat for their permanent rehabilitation. He said that the basic objective of this scheme was to help mustehkeen zakat once enabling them to stand on their own feet. He said that all arrangements with regard to distribution of auto rickshaws had been completed.
The minister said that strict conditions had been imposed regarding free distribution of auto rickshaws among mustehkeen zakat and auto rickshaws would be given only those fulfilling these conditions.
Malik Nadeem Kamran said that implementation of policy and method evolved by Provincial Zakat Council regarding distribution of auto rickshaws among mustehkeen zakat would be ensured. He said
that as a pilot project, this scheme was being started in nine districts of divisional headquarters of the province and six or seven auto rickshaws would be distributed among mustehkeen of every district. He said that in case of more number of mustehkeen, auto rickshaws would be given through balloting and the poorest mustehkeen would be selected.
Secretary Zakat & Ushr Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
