Safety of life and property of citizens in city was the top priority, said Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz.
He said that consolidated steps were being taken to upgrade and strengthen Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad.
Chairing a meeting at CDA Headquarters, Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the concerned officers to ensure latest training of officers and technical staff of E&DM at local and international levels so that they could be equipped with modern technical knowledge of how to control the situation in any emergency. He also directed for taking necessary steps for creating awareness among the general public about the precautionary and safety measures against the fire incidents for minimum losses.
Earlier, the Mayor was apprised that during the month of July and August 149 Occupancies were inspected to check safety measures under the Islamabad Fire Prevention and Life Safety Regulation-2010.
In this connection, 149 Notices, 17 Show Cause/Final Warning Notice, 32 Advisory Reports were also issued in addition to the issuance of one (01) NOC / Plan Approval.
The meeting was informed that two training sessions were also conducted to impart training to the Rescue Staff. It was also informed that 12 high rise buildings (15 M above), 189 Below 15 M, 35 Government and 166 were private occupancies were inspected during the above said period.
