Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri invited to ring bell at Lord’s

Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri have been approached to ring the Five-Minute Bell at the Lord’s during India’s second Test against England commencing on Thursday.
This was revealed by Hugo Barnard, the official administrator at the Lord’s.
Whereas Sachin Tendulkar, the world’s greatest batsman India has ever produced, has accepted the invitation to ring the bell on the first day of the Test match, Team India coach Ravi Shastri is yet to confirm it for Saturday, the third day of the Test, it is learnt here.
The bell, which is located at the Lord’s Pavilion, is rung five minutes before the start of play on all days of the Test and it has become a great honour for the player or administrator or sports lover to be invited to ring it on the morning of a Test match.
“India have so far contributed six bell ringers”, Adam Mathews, the Media and Communications Officer at Lord’s says.
“The list of Indian players include Sunil Gavaskar, late MAK Pataudi, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev and Sairav Ganguly”.
Former England all-rounder Ted Dexter, aged :82 and Anya Shrubsole are scheduled to ring bell on 2nd and 4th day.
The 26-year-old Anya, the England World Cup winner was the first woman to appear on the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack this year.
The bell ringer for the last day of the Test is yet to finalized.
