SAARC Energy Centre (SEC) serves as an influential advocate for caring the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling masses to improve their quality of life. Every year the Centre commemorated World Environment Day on 05 June, the single largest celebrations of environment. This year’s celebrations held under the UN set theme ‘Beat Air Pollution’ to explore the ways to improve air quality in cities and regions across the world. SEC Director, Mohammad Naeem Malik welcomed the focus of this year’s celebrations. He said that air pollution is one of most pressing challenge that we are facing in the 21st century. Malik is maintaining overarching and enduring commitments to involve individuals and institutions to preserve environment by creating awareness programmes through distribution of pamphlets, hoisting banners, exclusive media talks and initiating plantation drives etc. The Centre led by the Director is actively engaged with government departments, academia, media and civil society in coordinating clean up drives, sports activities and walks regarding importance of clean environment.
