Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme was a revolutionary project which would improve the public health in the province particularly in South Punjab.
This was stated by MPA Qazi Adnan Farid who is a member of various standing committees, including Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Punjab Assembly, and member Board of governors, Saaf Pani Programme.
Talking to APP, he said the Punjab government had evolved a splendid programme worth billions of rupees for the provision of clean drinking water in south Punjab.
Farid said that provision of clean drinking water was a basic right of every citizen and termed it a revolutionary project with regard to human health.
“The Punjab government had recommended to reserve Rs 25 billion for Saaf Pani Project in the 2017-18 budget,” he added.
He said under Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme, potable water was being made available to people, adding the programme will bring about revolution in the public health. To a query, Adnan Farid said that on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, chlorination process in tube wells would be a responsibility of deputy commissioner of district concerned.
“A survey will also be conducted to assess the condition of pipelines in the province,” he added.
He further said that clean water was a blessing of Allah Almighty and all formations of the Punjab government had joined hands to put all energies to expedite this programme for providing clean drinking water for every citizen of the province.
