Karachi—Sindh Assembly passed the fourth Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill-2013. According to details, the SA session was presided over by the deputy Speaker Shehla Raza. Amid debate on a quarterly report for the year 2015-16, Sindh senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khohru tabled the said Bill in the house for passage.
The amended Bill that was passed with the help of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the main opposition in the SA and it now carries increased number of seats for women from 22 to 33 percent. Likewise, in the newly amended Bill, seats for the youth, labours and representatives from minority have also been increased.
The senior minister faced a severe opposition from the opposition benches for not providing the script of the amendment made in the clause 18-A of the said Bill. The deputy Speaker had adjourned the session until coming Wednesday amid ongoing debate on amending the said clause, 18-A.
