Rwp district remained at top in action against code of conduct violators: DC

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Dr Umer Jahangir on Tuesday said that Rawalpindi district remained at top in action taken against code of conduct violators and removal of illegal election publicity material while the candidates of different political parties who violated the rules were also served show cause notices.
Talking to a European Union election observers group he said, improvement and betterment was witnessed in the general elections 2018 as compared to previous elections.
Overall the election remained peaceful in the district and no untoward incident was reported here, he said adding, tight security arrangements were made for highly sensitive polling stations.
He further informed that the media representatives were allowed to cover elections according to the notification issued by Election Commission of Pakistan.
Dr Umer said, a special monitoring cell was established here in DC office where the polling stations particularly sensitive were monitored through CCTV cameras and all out efforts were made to address complaints if any. The DC said, the district administration provided level playing field to all the candidates and performed their official duties with responsibility. The voters were provided a peaceful environment to elect their representatives in free, fair and transparent manner, he added.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Headquarters Saima Younas was also present.—APP
