RTA moves against overcharging transporters

Rawalpindi—On special instructions of Secretary Regional Transport Authority Rawalpindi has started a move against the transporters involved in overcharging and not displaying fare list appropriately. Talking to APP on Sunday, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Khalid Yameen Satti said no one would be allowed to fleece the commuters, adding that those indulging in overcharging, their vehicles would be confiscated.
He also admitted a meager fine of Rs 100 to 500 is being imposed on violators, to curtail violations.He said a number of complaints have been lodged by the residents with RTA on various routes including Dhamial camp to Saddar, Sadiqabad to Raja Bazar and Pirwadahi to Raja bazaar. The Secretary directed transporters to visibly display the fare list with destination at their respective terminals, else strict action would be taken against them.—APP
