Rs100m for New Karachi, Korangi 5 hospitals: Mehtab

Karachi—Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Sindh government is committed to save human lives especially children and for the purpose health department will provide Rs 100 millions to NGOs to run certain units in New Karachi and Korangi 5 hospitals.
This he said while talking to a delegation of Child Life Foundation here in his office on Thursday, said a statement. Chairman Child Life Foundation Iqbal Adamjee and CEO Dr. Ahsan Rabbani also attended the meeting.
He said that they were ready to provide regular support, medicines and financial support as well to give better health care facilities to children in these hospitals so that children of poor may get best health facilities in Karachi.
As these units become functional, at least 1200 to 1500 ailing children would get the cheapest and best health facilities daily and children hospital New Karachi would be made a model hospital, he added.
Chairman Child Life Foundation told the Sindh Minister Health that last year the NGO spent 21 crore rupees for the treatment of the children and the next year budget would be Rs 35 crore.
The Health Minister said that he would talk to K-Electric Management to waive certain charges for public sector hospitals so that they might be run in smooth way.
Meanwhile, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar paid a surprise visit to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre and directed Project Director Hidayat Kamal to furnish each and every thing in couple of days otherwise he would take strict action against him.
The Health Minister visited several floors and expressed his dissatisfaction over slow pace of remaining work. Medical Superintendent Trauma Centre Dr. Saeed Quershi told the Provincial Minister that the consultants and other medical staff had been hired on market based salaries to run Trauma Centre efficiently.
