Rs 29.6m being spent on training of officers, representatives of LGs

An amount of Rs 29.6 million is being spent on training of officers and representatives of the local governments for improving cleanliness system of rural areas of Punjab.
Punjab Minister for Local Governments and Rural Development Muhmmad Manshaullah Butt said this addressing a one-day training session for officers and representatives of local governments under Saaf Dehaat Programme of Chief Minister Punjab, here on Sunday.
The minister said that first batch of master trainers had completed the training in collaboration with the UNICEF who would impart training to the other fellows for ensuring success of the programme. He said that the government was committed to ensure cleanliness facilities for the rural areas at par with urban areas.
“It is a basic right of people living in rural areas to have clean environment and other civic amenities at their door steps and the government would ensure it”, he said.
The minister said that the government had chalked out a comprehensive programme with an allocation of Rs 18.59 million for providing clean environment in 3,200 rural areas of the province.
He said that the districts having better performance would be awarded with prizes.
