Robbery bid foiled in Karachi hospital

A robbery bid was foiled in a private hospital at Stadium Road here on Monday.
A guard and his supervisor were taking Rs6.2 million from one block to the other at the Liaquat National Hospital, when the robbers intercepted them, SSP East Faisal Abdullah Chachar said. The security guard resisted and tried to open fire thrice, but his gun did not work.
In an exchange of fire by the robbers, the security guard suffered a bullet injury on the leg. The SSP East said the armed men even tried to snatch the guard’s weapon.
According to SSP East, the robbers had entered the hospital premises on a motorcycle and had obtained a parking slip. He added one of the armed men was wearing a helmet, but the other was not.
Police is on the lookout for the robbers who fled the crime scene.
