Road accidents are increasing with each passing day in Pakistan. The main reason for this is that people have become addicted to rash and reckless driving and are hardly ever penalised under law. Besides, most traffic policemen are only interested in making money by stopping motorcyclists and pickups carrying goods. We see traffic police on roads, rules in books, signboards on roads and highways and observance of traffic week. Yet we keep breaking traffic laws 24/7.
A question rises in the mind that why accidents happen less on the motorway? Because of strict policing and penalising those who violate traffic rules and regulations. The authorities concerned should foster awareness among people about traffic rules and regulations through media, both electronic and print.
