Islamabad—Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) said that govt is endeavouring to protect and realize rights of Senior Citizens besides other segments of society.
He was addressing a seminar titled ‘Senior Citizens of Pakistan—their problems and possible solutions’ which was organized by National Council of Social Welfare on Wednesday.
Renowned retired Federal Secretaries Mrs Parveen Qadir Agha, Muzaffar Mehmood Qureshi and Ainuddin Qureshi were chief guests. Representatives of civil society, students, journalists, intellectuals and senior citizens attended the meeting.
Extending full cooperation to all stakeholders in accomplishment of noble task of welfare of senior citizens, Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik highlighted the steps taken by the NCSW for the welfare of Senior Citizens, which included setting up of pension cell, a facilitation desk for senior citizens, and a dedicated help line ie 051-9107668.
He urged the senior citizens to visit the library/reading room in NCSW which is connected with free WiFi facility.
He also mentioned that the Council believes in providing facilities to the senior citizens at their door-step under community out-reach programme which will primarily focus the health needs of senior citizens in rural areas and announced to organize a medical camp in Islamabad for the senior citizens soon.
