Karachi—PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari chaired a high-level meeting in Karachi Monday to review the law and order situation, and also measures to deal with rain emergency, should it arise after monsoons.
Senior members of the party, including Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, home minister Anwar Sial, and others attended the session at Bilawal House, which also serves as the party’s nerve centre
Reports said that situation arising out of the kidnapping of the chief justice’s son, Barrister Awais Shah, and the ghastly murder of sufi singer Amjad Sabri, plus the need to strengthen Karachi operation, and the situation or emergency that may arise after the expected monsoons in Karachi and rest of the province, was discussed in detail.
Alongwith Bilawal, was his auntie, Faryal Talpur. A question arose as to whether the IG Police of Sindh, could be called to a meeting chaired by a non-official. The presence of IG Police at the meeting raised eye brows because civil servants are not supposed to attend political meetings. Even if law and order was discussed, neither Bilawal nor Faryal have any government office.
Later Bilawal went to meet the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Justice Sajjad Ali Shah whose son, Barrister Owais Shah, has been kidnapped, but nothing has been made known so far as to the progress in the probe.
