Refusing militants bodies to locals inhuman: Mirwaiz

Srinagar—Hurriyat (M) on Wednesday condemned the authorities for refusing to handover bodies of three militants in Pampore gunbattle and said the act was against ‘norms of humanity and moral values’.
Paying glowing tributes to the slain militants, it said the people of Kashmir have been, for the past several decades, giving enormous sacrifices for the cause of freedom.
“… and it was the need of the hour that the leadership of India shun its policy of repression and suppression in Kashmir and take meaningful steps for the resolution of Kashmir issue.”
In a statement issued here today, the amalgam termed as “completely undemocratic and dictatorial” what it said the use of excessive force by the government forces on unarmed protesters in Pampore, imposition of curfew in the area and arrests of scores of youth in Tral.
A spokesman of the amalgam also condemned the razing to ground of residential abodes belonging to the Gujjar community by the district administration in Sarore area of Samba and the killing of a person Muhammad Yaqoob. “The harassment of the community by the government and the authorities had been going on for quite some time now,” he said.—GK
