Reconstruction, rehabilitation in quake-hit zone priority of AJK govt

Acting Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan has said that since 8th October 2005 earthquake was a big tragedy at national level, the compliance of rehabilitation and reconstruction projects for the victims is our commitment.
Acting Prime Minister AJ&K expressed these views while attending the prayer ceremony held under the aegis of State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) at University ground on Sunday
Addressing the ceremony to mark the 12th anniversary of the deadly earthquake, the acting, PM AJK said,” SDMA will be strengthened to meet natural disasters; if buildings would have been made according to the conduct of building codes then we could bear lesser loss.”
Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan also admired the role of Government of Pakistan, Pak Army, National and International Non- government organizations, Muslim countries and people of Pakistan after the earthquake. He also paid tribute for all their aid, relief and support in rehabilitation.
Acting PM AJK said that this was the one of the largest rescue operation in human history.
He reiterated that Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) should provide funds for the completion of their Projects within the state especially educational institutes. He also appreciated the work of ERRA and Nespak for fulfilling their responsibilities of rehabilitation.
Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan also attended inauguration ceremony of Government Girls higher secondary school Gojra under the aegis of State Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (SERRA).
