The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Food Department in its ongoing drive to provide citizens hygienic food here on Thursday confiscated 6000 liters substandard milk which was later disposed off.
The RCB spokesman told APP that during checking at Peshawar Road in Naseerabad area, the team checked milk vehicles and found sub-standard and low quality milk in three vehicles coming from different cities.
He informed a fine amounting to Rs 10,000 was also imposed on a vehicle carrying low fat milk.
The team on the special directives of Cantonment Executive Officer Sabtain Raza is conducting raids and checking quality of food items including milk in different areas, he added.
The Food department is trying to ensure supply of healthy and quality food items to the people, he said adding, raids are being conducted on daily basis to check quality of edibles and action in accordance with the law being taken against restaurants and Fast Food outlets found indulge in supply of substandard and low quality food items to the customers.—APP
