RCB disconnects 221 illegal water connections

Rawalpindi—Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) under its campaign launched to check and disconnect illegal water connections from its areas has disconnected 221 illegal water connections and sealed 10 properties of tax defaulters. According to RCB spokesman on Friday, 44 notices were also issued to property tax defaulters in Saddar area and 30 notices on illegal construction in Marble Factory area, Usmania Colony Farooqabad, Masrial Road, Quaid e Azam Colony and Peshawar Road area.
He said, illegal water connections have been disconnected in Ahmedabad, Naseerabad, Kamalabad, Gawalmandi, Allama Iqbal Colony, Saddar, Westridge and other areas.
The residents have been warned that stern action would be taken with imposition of heavy fines against those found indulge in any such practice in future. Special teams on the instruction of Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Saima Shah were formed to check illegal connections, he added.
He informed, the RCB has also recovered arrears of water connection charges amounting to Rs 2.8 million.
The spokesman said, several raids have been conducted by RCB, building control department teams and the owners of buildings and structures constructed illegally have been issued notices.—APP
