Rajwana advises doctors to serve in rural areas


Multan—Punjab Governor, Malik Rafique Rajwana urged doctors to serve in rural areas saying that it was need of the hour for ailing masses. “People in villages even do not know what is dental treatment though it is a very important department of health,” he added.
The governor expressed these views while addressing first ever convocation of Nishtar Dental College( NDC) here at assembly hall of Nishtar Medical Institute (NMI) Saturday.
He stated that one must strive for excellence without indulging in money matters because money is antithesis to excellence. He said everything is doable and doctors should follow the principal of tolerance. Rajwana urged doctors to keep on going through the oath off and on for self accountability. He said both politics and opposition should be positive adding that all political parties and its leaders were patriots.
He said the government was working on different health projects in Multan which includes a kidney centre, Pak Italian Modern Burn centre, Children Complex etc. Earlier, Principal NDC, Dr Riaz Ahmad Warriach said district administration has identified 25 acre state land for construction of sports ground and hostel and accommodation of doctors of the college saying that government should gift South Punjab people a University of dental sciences.
Later, the governor awarded degrees, gold, bronze and silver medals to graduates who passed from 20102015 session. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, PML MPA, Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, former MNA, Sheikh Tariq Rasheed, VC UHS, Maj General (R) Dr Aslam, Principal NMI, Dr Kamran Salick were also present.—APP
