Met office Wednesday forecast rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills at number of places in Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, upper Punjab and Kashmir, scattered places in Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in north-east Balochistan, upper Sindh, south Punjab, Lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 24 hours.
However, heavy snowfall is expected in Chitral, Shangla, Naran, Kaghan and Hazara division while intermittent heavy snowfall also likely over Murree and Galliyat hills.
A strong westerly wave is prevailing over the country. This weather system (westerly wave) is expected to produce more rains/snowfall in the country till Thursday.
Landslides and avalanches are expected during the period in Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan and local streams may be flashy due to anticipated heavy downpour.
Whereas in Khaber Pakhtunkhwa occasional heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in the tributaries of Kabul River and trigger landslides in hilly terrain. Snowfall remained Kalam 15 inch, Malamjabba 06 inch, Murree 02 inch and Astore and Kalat 01 inch.
Minimum temperatures recorded were; Malamjabba, Parachinar and Skardu -07øC, Gupis -04øC, Kalat and Kalam -02øC, Murree, Hunza and Bagrote -01øC, Dir, Chitral and Quetta 01øC, Gilgit 03øC, Muzaffarabad 04øC.—APP
