Rain, thunderstorm expected at scattered places in upper areas

Islamabad—Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in upper Punjab, Upper Khaber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while mainly hot and dry weather conditions to prevail in most parts of the country.
The rainfall is forecast in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions,Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday evening/night.
A westerly wave is prevailing over northern parts and its adjoining areas and likely to move north-eastward during next 24 hours, an official of met office told APP. In last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm with gusty/dust raising winds occurred at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara, upper Punjab and Zhob division.
Rainfall received during this time span was Dir 16mm, Kalam 08mm, Zhob 07mm, Balakot, Sargodha 06mm, Mirkhani 05mm, Saidu Sharif 04mm, Multan 03mm, Parachinar, Lower Dir, Sialkot Cantt, Jhang 02mm, Sialkot A/P, Drosh, Lahore PBO and Mandibahauddin 01mm.
Maximum temperatures recorded on Wednesday remained Dadu 40øC, Sh Benazirabad, Hyderabad 39øC, Mirpurkhas, Sibbi, Turbat, Mithi 38øC, Islamabad 29øC, Lahore 32øC, Karachi 34øC, Peshawar 32øC, Quetta 31øC, Gilgit 24øC, Chitral 24øC, Hunza 19øC, Muzaffarabad 23øC, Murree 17øC, Skardu 19øC, Faisalabad 32øC, Multan 34øC, Hyderabad 39øC, Dir 26øC and Kalat 29øC. Pollen count was 1,239 m3 of air during this time period.—APP
