Islamabad—Amid prevailing tension between the government and opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the demand for probe into Panama Papers leaks issue, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has postponed his official visit to Cuba.
He was scheduled to proceed to Havana on Saturday at the invitation of Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Cuba along with a delegation of Senators including Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Nasreen Jalil, Nisar Muhammad Khan, Shahi Syed and Gian Chand.
However, postponing his visit he summoned the session of the Upper House of the Parliament on Friday November 04. He summoned the House as per a requisition moved under Article 54 (3), Constitution, 1973, by Senator Taj Haider and 27 other Senators.
The Chairman Senate has examined the requisition and found 26 signatures to be in order, thus meeting the requirements of Clause (3) of Article 54, Constitution, 1973, read with Rules of Procedure and Conduct of the Business in the Senate, 2012. Then in exercise of his powers under Clause (3) of Article 54, Constitution, 1973, the Chairman, Senate of Pakistan has summoned a Session of Senate on Friday Nov 4.
