The Qaumi Watan Party senior leader and lawyer Muhammad Jan Gigani who was shot injured by unknown miscreants in Charsadda expired during treatment at a Peshawar hospital on Saturday.
The advocate was on his way to tehsil courts along with his nephew, when some unknown armed men riding on motor-cycles opened indiscriminate firing on the advocate in Hijizai area of Shabqadar tehsil.
The injured QWP leader was shifted to Peshawar due to his critical condition where he breathed his last during treatment.
The body was handed over to his heirs after postmortem and the police after registering a case into the incident at respective police station have started the investigation.
The armed men escaped after killing the senior lawyer. The security forces rushed to the attack site and started search operation.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a banned terrorist outfit, has claimed responsibility for the killing.
