QAU ranking improved by hiring qualified faculty: VC

Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad, Dr Javed Ashraf has said that his university improved its ranking among the top universities of the world by ensuring that its faculty was highly qualified and had done good research work. He said the varsity ranking has improved this year due to the vital steps taken by the management in previous years. He said the good results of the policies of the university can be seen in light of its ranking improvement.
“We are only hiring PhDs and has set it as a minimum criteria for acquiring Assistant Professors for our faculty and we are not hiring lecturers,” the VC said. “We are focusing on quality education through quality of research work. We urge Ph.D scholars to avoid low quality publication as it was the only way to improve university rankings,” he added.
The VC said, “We have encouraged our faculty to publish in journals known for their quality.” Dr Javed Ashraf said that he is satisfied with the improvement of varsity’s rankings and vowed to further improve its in the coming years. It may be mentioned here that the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad (QAU) has been included in the top 500 universities of the world, by the 14th annual edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
