Punjab to introduce four vaccines in five years

Lahore—Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the provincial Expanded Programme for Immunization (EPI) program to introduce four vaccines in next five years and complete the preparatory work to achieve the target.
Chairing the Provincial EPI Steering Committee meeting in the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department at Birdwood Road, here today, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that all out efforts be made to reduce child mortality.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Ali Jan Khan, Chairman National Immunization Technical Advisory Group Prof. Tariq Iqbal Bhutta, DG Health Punjab Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Director EPI/EOC Coordinator Dr. Munir Ahmed, Medical Director Children Hospital, Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Professor Akmal Laeeq from KEMU, Dr. Zahida Sarwar, Pakistan Pediatrics Association and technical officials of UNICEF, WHO and Gates Foundation also attended the meeting.
