After several weeks of campaign against the use of privately prepared number plates of vehicles, than the ones provided by the government, the Punjab traffic police has started action against the motorists violating the orders.
According to reports, more than 26,000 number plates have been removed from the vehicles by the traffic wardens who are not leaving any one plying vehicles with number plates made by the private vendors.
The Punjab traffic police has been checking the vehicles and those seen with the unauthorized number plates are stopped, challaned and the number plate removed with strict warning to get the officially prepared number plates within a specific time.
An unfortunate incident took place in Lahore where a traffic warden was beaten up for stopping a vehicle with privately prepared number place. The police however managed to arrest the two accused.
