Punjab polio free; WHO appreciates

The World Health Organization (WHO) has admired the vaccination programme of Punjab Health department as no polio case was reported in the province during 2016.
This was informed in a meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held here on Thursday to review progress in the medical reforms programme.
The meeting was told that the Punjab government had launched rota virus vaccination campaign and it was the first province which had taken this initiative in the country.
Effective measures were taken to eradicate polio and no polio case was reported in the province in 2016, while international health organisations admired the vaccination programme.
The Chief Minister praised the provincial health ministers and concerning officials for effective implementation of vaccination programme.—APP
