Punjab govt working on comprehensive plan for welfare of special persons: Khalil Tahir


LAHORE, : Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MAs) Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that it is our moral, social and religious obligation at individual and collective levels to make efforts for the welfare of special persons.

In a statement here on Sunday, Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that the main objective of special person’s day is to create awareness about social and economic rights of special persons and make efforts to convert them into beneficial persons of the society. He said efforts to give special persons equal opportunities for progress in all fields of society have been accelerated.

The Minister said the Punjab government is working on a comprehensive program for the welfare of special persons.

He said jobs quota for special persons has been increased from two to three per cent, total 1550 government jobs have been given to blind persons, special persons have been given 10 year relaxation in upper age limit, under Punjab Baitul Maal 10 per cent quota have been earmarked for the special persons and more than 13000 blind people have been given Khidmat Cards from the Social Welfare Department.
