Spokesman of Agriculture Department has said that Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsan Bhutta decided to transform 25 markets into Model markets.
Agriculture Marketing wing is burning its midnight oil to transform Fruit & Vegetable Markets into model market.
These model markets is attributing cleanliness along with anti-dengue, fruit fly management measures and maximum tree plantation.
Spokesman further disclosed that these model markets are free from any encroachment. These markets will be under observation with no malpractice there. One of the case study is Fruit & Vegetable Market Gujaranwala. Total area of market is 93 kanals & 06 Marlas and it is located at main Gujranwala by-pass road.
The estimated cost for construction of road F&V Market Gujranwala was Rs. 69.50 million, which was calculated by the XEN of the MCPFB. But due to poor financial condition, Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsan Bhutta motivated the commission agents to construct roads from their own resources.
Due to inspirational motivation, they have agreed to do so and will bear all the expenses i.e Rs. 69.50 million. In this regard, Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) said that this is a positive aspect and F&V market Gujranwala set an example for other markets too.
Spokesman further said that Schedule of market fee, commission and daily rates will be displayed at prominent places in model markets. Auction will be supervised to ensure transparency and daily rates will be prepared in accordance with the auction prices.
Auction shall be recorded and both arrival and auction registered be maintained properly. These markets is evaluating by the inspection team for their performance.
