Public schools set ablaze, toll reaches 35

Islamabad/Anantnag—A school was gutted in a mysterious fire in Kokernag area of south Kashmir late Sunday night, taking the number of schools set ablaze in last four months to 35. The incident comes only a day after police claimed to have arrested 33 people in connection to arson of schools.
According to reports, some miscreants torched Government High School in Narsanger village of Larnoo area in Kokernag.
A senior police official, confirming the incident, said the incident was reported at about 11:30 PM Sunday night.
“One of the two buildings of the school, comprising four rooms, was gutted by the time fire was brought under control,” the official said.
He said the police was investigating the case and it remains unclear what or who caused the fire.—KMS
