Public opinion survey

TWO recent public opinion surveys indicate that popularity graph of PML (N) President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is intact and he is still on top of the graph, followed by Imran Khan. The findings show that despite adverse Supreme Court verdict and campaign launched by some circles and elements, Mian Nawaz Sharif and PML (N) have maintained their relevance in politics.
Supreme Court verdict and on-going NAB references against Sharif family notwithstanding, the fact remains that both Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif have rendered great services for the cause of country and welfare of the people. It is because of their leadership qualities and hard work that the opponents are finding it extremely difficult to beat them on political or electoral fronts and that is why they are banking more on non-political processes to improve their prospects in elections and politics. Irrespective of the strategies being adopted by their opponents, one must keep in mind that it is service to the people and practical work that count and not rhetoric or propaganda campaign. As a result of 2013 general elections, three major parties — PML (N), PPP and PTI — got chances to form their governments at the Centre and in provinces, providing them a unique opportunity to excel in service delivery but people witnessed that while the Federal and Provincial Government of Punjab carried forward their developmental agenda and improve the quality of life of the people, things are almost at 2013 level as far as Sindh and KP are concerned. The slogan of change is nowhere to be seen and this is going to play a crucial role in the next general elections. We would urge politicians and political parties to agree on rules of the game and follow them strictly as their collective fate is at stake.
