PU PhD student wins World Bank scholarship

Lahore—Punjab University Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics’ PhD student Mr. Arslan Sarwar has been awarded with Robert S. McNamara (RSM) World Bank Ph.D. exchange fellowship for 10 months at University of Maine, USA.
Among 144 participant countries, only 16 scholarships are awarded per year. In 2013, only Mr. Arslan Sarwar has got this award from Pakistan. Mr Sarwar is doing his PhD thesis entitled “isolation and identification of causative agent of potato common scab and characterization of effective antagonistic bacterial strain as biological control agent” under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Zakia Latif. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated on this achievement.—INP
