PU clinch overall trophy Mega Challenge MC-16

Peshawar—Punjab University clinched the overall trophy of the Youth Carnival Mega Challenge MC-16 by securing 118 points on the last day of the two-day event concluded here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Sunday.
The provincial government with the consultant partnership with Liaison Corporation held the Youth Carnival participated by more than 1500 male and female students from 231 educational institutions across Pakistan.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak was the chief guest on this occasion. Minister for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs and Archive Mehmood Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Youth Azam Khan, Additional Secretary Sports Tariq Khan, DS Sports Adil Safi, DG Sports KP Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Youth Arshad Hussain, students, officials and large number of spectators were also present.
In his welcome address, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mehmood Khan lauded the students turned up from various educational institutions for this mega event.
He said that the event was aimed at paving ways for people of other provinces particularly students to remove their fear and come to the host-province. More than 1500 students from leading 230 educational institutions across Pakistan came and took part in 27 different competitions.
The minister said Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan vision is to involve the youth in every field of life so that they could come forward and show their responsibility for the progress of Pakistan.
Youths throughout the country showed their hidden talents in the Mega Challenge. The MC-16, the minister added would help the youth promoting their talent and their interaction with each other as well.
The MC-16, he further informed 27 different competitions were parts of it including Qir’at, Na’at Khwani, English and Urdu declamation and essays, writing, quiz, painting, short filming, calligraphy, photography, music in Pashto, Hindu, Urdu and English etc, he said.
He expressed the hope that in the years to come Mega Challenge would be organized at international level and students from others countries would be invited so that coherence and brotherhood can be developed.
At the end, the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak gave away trophies, cash prizes, gifts hampers and certificates distributed among the position holders of various categories.
After PU, Sindh Jamshoroo got runners-up trophy with 62 points and Gomal University, the last time winner, bag third position with 58 points.
PU won Drama, Calligraphy, Short Filming, Photography, Urdu Singing Hinko Singing, Music Band, Naat Quiz, Sindh Jamshoroo won Thematic Arts, Painting, English singing, and secured second position in spelling bee, Extra Ordinary Talent, Cultural Dance, Naat, Gomal University got second position in Calligraphy, Qirat, Business Plan Stand Up.
COMSATS Abbottabad in Pashto singing, Khushal Kha Khattak, Karak in Qirat, GCU Lahore in English Debates Preston University Islamabad in Business Plan Gomal University in Ad Marking, University of Haripur in Cultural Dance took first position while Forman Christian Lahore in Thematic Art, University of Peshawar in Painting, Post Graduate College Haripur in Short Filming, UET Mardan in Photography, AJK University in Urdu Singing, Haripur University in Hinko singing, UET Mardan in English Singing, GCU Lahore in Music Band, UET Peshawar in English Eassy, GCU Lahore in Urdu Debates, UET Mardan in Quiz, Swat University in Ad Making Quaid-e-Azam University in Console Gaming, Gomal in Drama got second position respectively.
