PTDC expects more tourists during winter in Northern Areas

Islamabad—The northern areas of country will be attracting a large number of domestic tourists from across the country with start of snowfall season.
An official of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) told APP on Sunday that Citral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, Shangla, Murree, Gillyat, Neelum valley, Skardu, Bagh received snowfall every year and became the centre of attraction for tourists. He said that Pakistan had had great potential for adventure tourism, adding that the country had the world’s highest mountains which had a great attraction for the visitors.
He said that the country had the distinction of having five peaks above 8,000 meters each, including the second loftiest mountain, K-2. Pakistan also has the largest glaciers on the globe outside the polar region, which offers tremendous attraction for adventurers. Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is introducing a Tourism Friends Club membership to promote tourism activities in country.
Under the scheme, better tourism facilities would be provided to members at affordable rates, an official of PTDC told APP on Sunday. He said that national or international citizen who could prove his/her identity would be entitled to apply for membership subject to the conditions determined by PTDC from time to time.—APP
