PTB asked to facilitate farmers

Peshawar—Commerce Minister, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan Wednesday urged the Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) to help farmers from crop production to manufacturing of products so that their hard work is rewarded appropriately. In a meeting with the employees of Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) and representatives of tobacco companies, the minister said that mineral-rich fertilizer was prerequisite for healthy crop production so farmers must be assisted with provision of better inputs.
“The hard work of farmers has been playing an important role in the development of Pakistan,” so they must b facilitated in every respect, he added. He said that PTB has great potential which needed to be exploited for the betterment of its employees and for people of Pakistan through active engagements in development processes.
“PTB is a successful and productive organization, however efforts are required to make it more sound technically,” he added. He urged the PTB management to take advantage of research conducted in other parts of the world to make the board more active and productive.—APP
