PSL final to promote soft image of country in world: Shah, Gilani


The Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA), Syed Khursheed Shah has said that holding Pakistan Super League final in the country will ensure the soft image of Pakistan, a statement said here on Saturday.
Shah said that peace and development is the need of masses adding that PPP would support incumbent government’s efforts for restoring peace and tranquility in the country.
He said that that peaceful environment should be ensured during the final match of PSL adding that Pakistani nation had strong determination to eliminate terrorism and holding of final match of PSL was a strong message to terrorists that there was no room for extremist mindset in Pakistan.
Terming holding of Pakistan Super League (PSL) final a mega event, former prime minister and PPP senior leader Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that it would elevate the stature of the country in the world. Talking to reporters here, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that it would be a great event.
PTI chief Imran Khan had his own opinion about PSL, he said and added holding the event in Pakistan could not be opposed. Gilani said the PPP would support incumbent government’s efforts for restoring peace and tranquillity in the country. To a question, former prime minister stated that Multan public meeting was cancelled owing to security reasons adding that his party would plan it again soon.
The Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) has lauded the Punjab government for holding final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore and making special security arrangements for this purpose. Secretary SCBAP Aftab Ahmed Bajwa talking to APP here on Saturday said the prevailing situation demands extra-ordinary arrangements and the law enforcement agencies of the country had adopted stringent security arrangements in this regard.
“Pakistani nation has strong determination to eliminate terrorism, and holding of PSL final match is a strong message to terrorists that Pakistan nation will not accept any pressure against its sovereignty”, he said.
He said the Pakistani nation had rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism and it was desire of the whole nation to hold this mega event in Lahore.
“I, on behalf of the SCBAP congratulated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa and all others authorities for holding PSL final in Lahore”, he said.
“Unprecedented arrangements have been made for this mega event and we expect that besides foolproof security, all other arrangements of final match will also be the best”, he added. Aftab Bajwa said the event was not only of Lahore but Pakistan and whole nation was praying for the success of the event.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Najam Ahamd Shah on Saturday said that all teaching hospitals, autonomous medical institutions and specialized healthcare institutes had been directed to remain high alert in connection with the final cricket mach of Pakistan Super League to be held on Sunday.
Talking to APP, Najam said that all officers and heads of hospitals/specialized institutions had been directed to ensure arrangements to provide best medical cover to people on the final match of the PSL. He said that warning had been issued to all hospital heads that no leniency would be tolerated at any cost in this regard.
To a question, he said the department had issued written instructions to vice chancellors of KEMU, FJMU, Chairman Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex Lahore, all principals of autonomous medical institutions, CE Mayo Hospital, all the medical superintendents of teaching hospitals, heads of Specialized Health Institutions and Director Institute of Blood Transfusion Services to ensure foolproof arrangements to provide medical cover to the public to meet any untoward situation.—APP
