Protestors block road against removal of woman’s kidney

Rawalpindi—A woman claimed that her kidney was removed by doctor during an operation in a private hospital on Saidpur Road here Wednesday. Fahmida Bibi, 60, was suffering from stones in her left kidney and was admitted in a private hospital where her operation was performed by Senior Surgeon Dr Fazal Elahi at Pak Khaleej Medical Center.
She claimed that the doctor had allegedly removed her kidney during the operation. Woman relatives staged a protest against the doctor in Banni area. The woman’s son namely Wahab Khan had lodged a written complaint with Banni police for legal action against the doctor.
The protestors blocked road for traffic besides chanting slogans against the doctor. The protestors appealed Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Waisal Fakhar Sultan Raja and City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi to take notice of the issue and order police to register a case against the doctor.
Wahab Khan talking to mediapersons said her mother was suffering from renal infection and was brought to the hospital of Dr Fazal Elahi for check up. He said the doctor advised some medical tests after examining his mother and decided to operate her after observing the results of tests but rather than removing the ailment the doctor removed her kidney.
When contacted no one was available to comment on the matter from Banni police.—APP
