Lahore—A meeting of special committee to review issues regarding the grant of proprietary rights to refugees belonging to Jammu & Kashmir was convened here today in Civil Secretariat, Lahore.
Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja presided over the meeting. The special committee has finalized its report in which the recommendation has been made to extend the cut of date for grant of proprietary rights of Evacuee Rural Agricultural Land available in districts of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum, Rawalpindi and Attock on the rate of rupees one thousand per PIU (Unit). This offer to get proprietary rights till December 31st, 2016 will be extended to only those 493 families of Jammu & Kashmir refugees who had already filed references to avail the grant of proprietary rights.
The special committee has also recommended to the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to constitute sub-committees in the administrative divisions of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala under the chairmanship of the relevant Divisional Commissioner to hear the references for settlement of all these references. The sub-committees will comprise the relevant District Coordinate Officer, Additional Commissioner (Revenue) and a senior representative of the Board of Revenue Punjab. Senior Member BoR will inform both the commissioners about policy framework, and SoPs in this regard and will also initiate a summary for approval of the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja addressing the meeting, expressed the hope that the relevant commissioners must ensure to inform the concerned quarters of AJ&K refugees regarding the new cut of date for the grant of proprietary rights after which this issue will be windup.
