Press Club building for Taxila journalists assured

The member provincial assembly Malik Umer Farooq has assured the journalist community of Taxila that their much awaited demand for official building of Press Club would be fulfilled soon and in this connection a room in the community center would be allocated to run the affairs there till construction of separate building. He made this assurance while addressing at the oath taking ceremony of tehsil Press club building at Royalson hotel Taxila on Monday.
Chairman Senate standing committee for cabinet division Senator Talha Mehmood, PTI MNA Ghulam Sarwar Khan, PTI MPA Tamoor Masood Akbar, Chairman Municipal Committee Taxila Mehmood Shah, Vice Chairman Zeeshan Butt and other notables were also present on this occasion.
He said that being the fourth pillar of the state, the journalists community have its own rights along with his responsibilities and government would made all out efforts to protect them.
He expressed his concern that the rural areas journalist being the ear and eye of the media organizations as well general public they are being kept without their just rights and even they are not paid any kind of remuneration.
He said that the local journalists of the area are demanding their press club building and now time has come that their demand should be fulfilled. He hailed the media role in Pakistani society and termed it an institution making the necessary effort to provide a platform for citizens, who are either ignored or denied their rights.
Chairman Senate standing committee for cabinet division Senator Talha Mehmood in his presidential address has said that it is due to independent media that the sitting Prime Minister and his family trial being conducted in the Apex court of the country.
He said that the media has equipped masses with awareness which is key for any nation’s development. He added that In the last decade, media has experienced a tremendous change and growth. It has now enacted itself on a path towards, where it ensures transparency in governance, as well as other aspects in life.
He said that media while reporting should always take care of the national interest and integrity because any negative impression creating in all national media was taken as lethal weapons against Pakistan in foreign media.
