PPP, PTI would fail to charge PM: Saira

PPP reference to bring govt to its logical end; rid nation of corruption, nepotism: Chandio

Islamabad—Senior leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Tuesday said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would fail to prove any charge against the Prime Minister at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
“This was not for the first time that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was facing a conspiracy against his government which was to stop way of transparent politicians to run the government,” Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar said while talking to APP.
Senior politician and central leader of PML-N, Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that such type of references could not be submitted directly with the ECP as according to law, reference only could be sent to the Speaker National Assembly or Chairman Senate, who could further move that reference to the ECP.
He said that it was high time that mainstream political parties should play their due role in development of the country rather than creating hurdles in smooth run of the affairs of the government just for petty gains.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said that PML-N and its leadership had transparent record and that those who filed reference would face defeat as they could not provide evidence in support of their reference.
PML-N member National Assembly Mian Abdul Manan said that some elements did not want economic stability in the country as they had started hatching conspiracies against democracy.
Karachi: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information & Archives, Maula Bux Chandio said on Tuesday that PPP’s reference against PML-N government will bring Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government to its logical end and rid the nation of corruption and nepotism. ‘Nawaz Sharif has deceived the nation since long by establishing off-shore companies in the name of their close relatives. Panama Leaks is a big proof against the record corruption and plundering of national exchequer.
Panamanian law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca, who revealed Panama Leaks, has linked Nawaz Sharif’s children his brother Shebaz Sharif’s in-laws to off-shore companies, which is a clear treason with the country and the nation,’ the advisor said in a statement. The advisor said: ‘Panama Leaks link PM Nawaz’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and her brothers Hussein and Hassan to four offshore companies-Nescoll Limited, Nielson Holdings Limited, Coomber Group Inc., and Hangon Property Holdings Limited. The companies acquired luxury real estate in London during 2006–2007.
The real estate was collateral for loans of up to $13.8 million, according to the Panama Papers.’ Chandio said that Nawaz should resign immediately as he had failed to declare his assets to the nation, as keeping assets hidden is not only tax evasion but pilferage of national wealth.
The advisor said that in view the nation’s demand of taking action against plundering of national wealth, PPP had filed a reference with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking the disqualification of Sharif as the country’s ruler. Chandio also referred to a report as saying: ‘Nawaz Sharif has also defaulted on Rs6 billion loan when he filed his nomination papers with the ECP in 2013.’
‘The anti-democratic forces backed by PML-government once again are out to harm PPP’s Sindh government, but PPP leadership is wise engogh and has been continuing its struggle to foster democracy, save national exchequer and serve drown-trodden people as per the lessons given by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto,’ the advisor concluded.—APP
