PP&D, WB organize conference on malnutrition

Lahore—Punjab Planning & Development department in collaboration with the World Bank and Policy and Strategy Planning Unit Health department organized a conference on malnutrition in women and children at P&D Complex, on Tuesday.
Representatives of micro nutrient initiatives, United Nations, Unicef, WHO, DIFID, World Bank and Health department participated in the conference.
Punjab Member Health P&D Dr. Shabana Haider while welcoming the guests said the Punjab government was trying its best to commit better serve the nutrition needs of women and children.
Nutrition had always suffered from lack of attention however its importance could not be ignored because healthy mother and children could play a bigger role in economic development, she said.
Dr. Shabana Haider said the Punjab government was focusing to resolve the issue of nutrition as its top priority. She said objective of the conference was to enable all relevant institutions to combat malnutrition.
She said food and good nutrition was the right of all people and by utilizing better resources, malnutrition could be redressed.—APP
